elkon R&D Center

Elkon Marine and Electric Technologies R&D Center was awarded as 448th R&D Center by the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology and started its activities in April 2017.

Elkon R&D Center employs more than 50 Researchers and Technicians specialized in Marine Electrics and related areas.

Elkon's R&D activities are mainly based on the electrification of the vessels, energy storage-powered hybrid or all-electric systems and automation of ships.

As electrical systems on-board of a vessel are transforming from AC grids to DC grids, this conversion provides both space saving and efficiency. At the same time, Elkon's R&D activities are focused on DC systems and power electronics. Elkon has granted 2 patents approved and 1 pending application so far.

Elkon also continues its efforts to contribute propulsion systems for unmanned and autonomous vessel solutions, hydrogen as a ship propulsion source which are considered to be the future development areas of the shipbuilding industry.

Elkon R&D Center contributes to the development of projects funded by the European Union as well as international and university collaborations.

Elkon aims to be a European pioneer company that develops and manufactures electric propulsion systems for vessels aligned with emission reduction targets and regulations.
